UROKOMON

These pants are from a series inspired by the works of ceramic artist Shoji Kamoda, including his “Colored Ceramic Jar,” which are characterized by scale-like designs. Bonding opal processing was used to express the scale-like designs in the textile. First, part of the pattern was printed onto the base fabric, cotton fabric was bonded on top, and then the entire pattern was printed again to create layering. Next, using highly precise printing technology, a special chemical agent was coated onto designated areas of the upper cotton fabric. Finally, after washing in water, the areas of the cotton fabric not covered by print layers are dissolved, allowing the printed pattern on the base fabric to emerge and creating an uneven texture reminiscent of Kamoda’s works.
