PLUMAGE

This collarless jacket is characterized by its pattern, hand-painted by artisans in Kyoto and inspired by the bird feathers used in color development. The beautiful color transitions found in bird feathers are expressed through a five-color gradient. Using two environmentally-friendly materials, the dyeing differences between them is harnessed to produce depth in both color and fabric. The base color is applied with a brush, then sprayed with an air gun. This technique requires skilled artisans to adjust the bleeding effect and complete all the painting work before the fabric dries completely.
