This dress was born from the TYPE-XV SOAR NY project by A-POC ABLE ISSEY MIYAKE and SOAR NY, a global design studio led by Masaki Hanahara, a creative director based in New York. It pursues a new form of beauty that transcends the frameworks of art and design, fusing the Japanese aesthetic sense with modern craftsmanship. This garment features a meticulous combination of the brand’s original Baked Stretch pleats technique and graphic design, with an original motif created from vivid color and playful typography. The fabric is treated with a special paste that is then inflated using heat, causing the flat graphics to emerge in three dimensions and the pleats themselves to function as part of the graphics.
