TYPE-XII Tomokazu Matsuyama project 003

This coat is a product of the “TYPE-XII Tomokazu Matsuyama project,” a collaboration between A-POC ABLE ISSEY MIYAKE and Tomokazu Matsuyama, a globally renowned contemporary artist based in New York who has captivated the world with his works. Various artworks created by Matsuyama for this project were reconstructed in a single piece of fabric, seamlessly fusing A-POC ABLE ISSEY MIYAKE’s design process with Matsuyama’s multifaceted imagery to showcase new possibilities at the intersection of art and design. A special solvent that hardens the fabric was printed in a triangular pattern onto the vividly printed fabric produced in a Kyoto workshop. The coat’s unique texture changes its expression three-dimensionally in response to the body’s movements.
